public class ConfigurationFileUpdater
extends Object

A class to update configuration/*.xml files when configuration/templates/*.xml versions are more recent. Checks for updates and saves prior configuration files before replacing, since user customizations will get overwritten when a master template configuration file is changed.

This class is invoked both for overall AUV Workbench initialization and also for individual projects.

handleUpdatedTemplatedFiles

Based on the String array above, check the files in the template directories for updates. If the timestamps and sizes do not match, this means that the files have been updated by FileTreeUpdater or SVN. The files need to be copied into place, but any existing ones need to be saved first. The method returns saved files so the GUI can do something with the info -- i.e., show the change list in a dialog.

Parameters:

templatedDirectories - a 2 dimensional array of template related directories

Returns:

List of file names (original, saved) of modified files which were overwritten after update.

copyToSaveSubdirectory

Move the passed file into the passed save subdirectory. Use same name, but do not overwrite an existing file by that name. Append an integer before the file extension until a unique name is found.

fil - File to save

backupSubdirectory - Path to save prior files to

File object of saved file
